Has America Lost It’s Moral Clarity?

Could I be accused of over exaggeration if I was to say that America is morally a dumpster fire? And no one seems to care.

We have NBC’s head news anchor, Brian Williams, grotesquely embellishes, i.e., lies, while reporting news. People want to create a new disorder, “mis-remembering”, to excuse his actions. We have a U.S President strenuously attempting to apply moral equivalency of radical Islamist and their actions of today to the Crusades of over a thousands years ago, Christendom, and Jim Crowe and slavery…at the National Prayer Breakfast. Really? Due to the government redefining marriage, we have acts such as women who marry themselves. Approximately 300 hundred youths storm a theater and goes on stealing spree. More Americans and U.S citizens are existing solely on the grace of the federal government than at any time before. And the architect of Obamacare admits that gross lies, deception, and manipulation, with Mr. Obama as a main accomplice, paved the way for its passage into law. And the story is buried deeper than the City of Atlantis by the Established Media.

The other day I heard a phrase that clearly defines this area that we as a nation have entered, “the age of acceptance”. This movement has been revealed in a Gallop Poll. We have entered a time where there is no concept of absolutes regarding one’s actions and moral behavior. One’s concept of right and wrong is solely defined by their personal boundaries, or that of popular identification. The notion of being guided by religious moral principles have been driven from the public square to be only exercised in one’s home or place of worship.

The abolition of moral clarity governed by traditional Judeo-Christian principles appears to be targeted at the young. Lets face it, those of us who where raise up in the 1960’s and prior had a strong sense of moral bounds instilled in us, mainly by our parents, then the church, and then by society and the government. Today, that order has been completely flipped. A Pew Survey revealed just how little significance religion has amongst the young of today in America. David Brooks of the New York Times, wrote an article Why Young Americans Can’t Think Morally. In Mr. Brook’s article it astonishingly stated that of those aged 18-23, “Moral thinking didn’t enter the picture, even when considering things like drunken driving, cheating in school or cheating on a partner.”…The default position, which most of them came back to again and again, is that moral choices are just a matter of individual taste.”… and that “Morality was once revealed, inherited and shared, but now it’s thought of as something that emerges in the privacy of your own heart.

The separation of the historical foundation of Christian principles and moral guidance and the success of this nation, particularly by the young, is of critical importance to the survival of this nation as a free and prosperous nation.

The notion that there is no connection or correlation between traditional Judeo-Christian principles and the phenomenal success of a nation of less than 300 years old is a truly new concept. Alexis de Tocqueville, 1800’s political thinker and historian, said of the secret of America, “I sought for the key to the greatness of America in her harbors; in her fertile fields and boundless forests; in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America ceases to be great.” Former Democrat U.S President Harry Truman, who would arguably be considered a social conservative today, and thus be shunned from the Party, said, “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and Saint Matthew, from Isaiah and Saint Paul. I don’t think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State. And Founder James Madison said, “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future…upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to sustain ourselves, according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

There is a firestorm that is slowly siphoning the life out of this nation. If secularism, the notion that morality is to be governed loosely via what tastes good, what looks good, sounds good, or what feels good, I do not think that its too far a stretch to believe that any belief in the survival of this nation’s prosperity and light for those seeking to be free, without a clear and unrelenting stance on the tried and true moral principles of Judeo-Christendom, shall be extinguished.

It is up to us to choose.

Mozilla’s CEO Firing Due To His Position On Same-Sex Is Further Evidence Of Brown Shirt-Like Silencing Of Opposing Points Of View

The lightening quick resignation/firing of newly hired Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich is only the latest disturbing sign of the Progressive Liberal’s publicly execution of anyone who dares to claim opposition to their point of view.  What was the crime that meant that his head should be put on display to forewarn any others who dare to come down his path of free expression?  He contributed $1000 to California Proposition 8, that dared to declare that marriage should be defined as between a man and a woman.  Shut da front door!!  Oh by the way, the measure passed overwhelming, and was only rejected by a grossly overreaching Federal Circuit Court declaring that the voices of the people does not matter regarding matters that it [the government] wants to promote.

But this is not the first time in history in which the government sought to silence descending or opposing points of view.  Remember throughout Nazi Germany, with the SS Brown Shirts, and totalitarian/communist nations, such as China and North Korea, where friends, family members, and coworkers are literally turned into government informants, and the citizens are conditioned to self-sensor their actions and words so as not to appear out of step with the conformist population and suffer the wrath of the government.  To the point that hardly anyone dares to speak publicly against the actions or motives of the government or whatever the current politically correct attitude is of the time. Even in the Bible, the story of King Nebuchadnezzar and  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, where the king mandated everyone bow down and willfully submit to his wishes and to be blindly worshiped, or violators would be cast in a burning furnace. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego openly refused his demands, they were arrested and thrown into the burning furnace for all others to take notice if they too dared disobey the kings demands or wishes.

History has shown us that one of the first things that a tyrant, or a government that seeks to rule of its citizens, is to suppress and or control speech and the flow of communication amongst the people.  And the Founders of this great nation were all too conscious of such tragic episodes in history.  So they placed the freedom of speech as the very first Amendment to the Constitution for the united States of America.  Ironically, it was placed right along with restraining the government from interfering in the free exercise of a citizen’s religious.  At the end of the day, the free expression of religion, particularly that of Christendom, is what all of this dust up is about.  Just as in the Phil Robertson’s, of the A & E Duck Dynasty Reality TV show, brouhaha  over his personal belief that marriage is defined in the Bible as being between a man and a woman.  Period!  We are supposed to be fruitful and multiply, i.e., to procreate according to the Bible.  And though I’m not a biology whiz by any measure, two men nor two women can procreate.  But since the end game is to fundamentally transform this nation into something that it was never designed to become, to detach it, and it’s people, from its Christian foundation, any semblance or representation of Christendom has to abolished from public view and of any relevance.

In order to carry out this grand deception, freedom of speech has to be contorted, suppressed, manipulated, and or extracted, except when it promotes the governments needs, and the truth to made into a lie.  If the government says that a woman can correctly raise a child absent a man, than anyone else who says otherwise is now wrong.  If the government says that the Negro people are inferior to Caucasians and should be made subservient to them, anyone who says otherwise is wrong.  If the government says that Christendom should be detached from the lives of the citizenry for the sake of not “offending” someone, than anyone else who says otherwise is wrong.  And if the government mandates that marriage shall now be defined openly to include those of the same sex, than anyone who does not bow to that way of thinking is now wrong.  And the best way to infuse compliance throughout the population is a public lynching, execution, or burning in a furnace for the populace to be warned of the consequences of noncompliance.  It does not matter of what political party’s affiliation that prescribes such policy.  It only matter if such policy is designed to encourage more freedom, or less freedom.

Tyranny does not have to come via direct brute force, but by gentle coercion and the redefining of truth and right.  Today truth and right is being redefined under the guise of “tolerance”.  Particularly during the past 6 years or so, to publicly show favor of anything traditionally American, whether it be our language, our history, our flag, our laws, customs, values, or religious principles, has been redefined as being intolerable in defense of that of anothers.  Conservative political commentator Erick Erickson truthfully stated, “Evil Preaches Tolerance Until It Is Dominant, Then Seeks to Silence Good.”

True freedom is defined, “The quality or state of being free: as the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action.”  The Founders knew all too well the crucial importance of the people being able to speak freely amongst each other, to be able to disseminate information without fear of government reprisals, manipulation, coercion, or intimidation.  That is why a free and unadulterated press was also placed in the first Amendment.

If we began to self-censor what we say or how we communicate to each other to the point that we only publicly display actions or say things simply because its what others want to see or hear, it stifles freedom and opens the way for government to come off its leash.  1700’s French author and writer, Voltaire, famously said, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”  The freedom of speech does not shield you from being offended or having bad things said to you.  I remember back in the day, there was a saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, words will never hurt me.”  As an individual though I may not like what you say or do, or the manner by which chose to act, I can not stop you by force for speaking nor acting in any way.  But, the government can, whether it be directly, via standing near you with his hand on his gun, or indirectly, via public policy enactments, laws, or decrees.  So long as one is not infringing upon another’s right to his of her life, liberty, or property/pursuit of happiness, it should not manner.  We have gotten to a disturbing point in this country that we a self-censoring our thoughts so as not to commit a crime.  Founder Ben Franklin so warned us, “Without freedom of thought there can be no such thing as wisdom; and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech.”

The choice is ours.

America Has Morally Gone Astray. The Founders Warned Us.

Recently CNN reported that in a Gallop Poll that an astonishing 77% of Americans believe that religion in the country is losing influence. But yet at the same time 75% say that the country would be better if we were more religious. Confused? Reviewing the 2012 Presidential election results though the Southern Baptist are the second largest religious denomination in America bolstering over 16 million members, according to the Hartford Institute for Religion Research, it’s political influences were inefficacious at best with an estimated more than 3 million Republican voters staying home. In a Pew Research article on religion and public life reported that amongst Christian evangelicals, 82% say evangelicals are losing influence in the United States today”. Interestingly though 71% of evangelicals in South America believe things are to be stronger there in 5 years.

There is something not quite right in America when so many recognize that we are lacking moral guidance, desire more moral guidance, our nation was founded on Christian moral principles, we have prospered immensely due to adherence to those principles for over 200 years, but yet by many of our actions and nearly 100% of Christian evangelicals believe that those very principles are no longer desired and are on their death beds in this nation, yet are flourishing in nations just to the south of us.

The issue goes far beyond political affiliation, but to the very foundation of our nation’s view of morality and our attachment to our founding religious principles and identity that has served and guided us to be the most free, prosperous, and influential nation for over 200 years. And questions whether we can seriously remain so for another 200 years. In a December 2012 New York Times report, The Decline of Evangelical America, as in all of the reports and articles that I have read on the subject, it all goes back to the societal conversion away from our nation’s traditional moral values and principles. And it all starts with the influence of the youngest amongst us. And who or what most influences them, whether it is the church, their parents, or the government..

Our nation’s moral decadence is startlingly visible in many ways, such as the explosion in unwed child births, the fact that we have more citizens incarcerated then Communist China, the fractionalization and marginalization of the traditional American family, the repeated election of so many severely morally and ethically challenged politicians, the increasing social vulgarity and incivility, and the blazing denigration of the value of self-subsistence and self-responsibility as more Americans are existing off of the federal government and the unprecedented growth in the entitlement mentality culture or me-ism. With so many societal transformations occurring in the nation such as, the redefining of marriage by the government to include those of the same sex, the redefining of what religion actually is, redefining of the U.S government and the American citizen relationship, and the literal banishment of the Bible and Christendom from government schools and significant public interface, to even include today the military, traditional religious values seem to be on the expedient decline. And so too the decline of America as a whole. But, these tragic consequences can come as a surprise to only those who are absent the knowledge of our Founder’s prophetic warnings and the history of the fight to keep the nation’s Christian heritage and principles as the pillars of our society as they were intended.

Lets review what the nation’s first President, George Washington, warned if we strayed from our moral principles, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness – these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

As for the ridiculous notion that we are not a Christian nation, as Mr. Obama so vociferously alluded to while he stood in Turkey after he first got anointed, the 1892 supreme court settled that question in the case of the Holy Trinity Church vs the United States stated, “these and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a christian nation.”Not to mention the shear girth of other historical supportive evidence such as, 56 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence had degrees from Bible schools, wrote religious books, and some went on to open Bible organizations. Ben Franklin once said, that he believe in ‘one God, Creator of the Universe,.’ God governed this universe by his Providence. As such he ought to be worshiped and the worship most acceptable to Him was in doing good to others.”

Regarding the relevance of Christianity to our nation, in the New York State Supreme Court case of 1811, People vs. Ruggles, stated, That whatever strikes at the root of Christianity, tends manifestly to the dissolution of civil government.”Founder John Adams said, The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”

The Founders clearly viewed the connection between the survival of the republic and Biblical principles as indispensable. They believed that though the federal government should not be a theocracy, or as the First Amendment clearly forbids in stating that, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”, they clearly believed that for this nation to be great and to remain great the principles of the Bible had to be the nation’s foundation. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story believed the Bible’s moral principles should be the foundation of education in the nation, Why may not the Bible, and especially the New Testament, without note or comment, be read and taught as a Divine Revelation in the [school] – its general precepts expounded, its evidences explained and its glorious principles of morality inculcated? Where can the purest principles of morality be learned so clearly or so perfectly as from the New Testament?” In fact, the nation’s first and most successful text book of the 18thcentury The New England Primer was the first reading primer designed for the American Colonies. It became the most successful educational textbook published in the 18th century and was used up until the 1930’s. It had in it the alphabet, vowels, consonants, alphabetical assistants, acronyms, catechisms, and 90 pages of Christian religious maxims and moral lessons that included the Lord’s Prayer.

Despite today’s popular notion that the Founders believed in a separation of church, particularly Christian, and the government, such advancement is simply without evidence and groundless-until recently generations at least. In fact as early as 1853 a petition was sent to Congress demanding separation of Christian principles and the government. After a year of investigation by the Congress it said, “Had the people (Founding Fathers) during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempts to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle.  At the time of the adoption of the Constitution and the Amendments, the universal sentiment was that Christianity should be encouraged, but not any one (denomination)…In this age, there is no substitute for Christianity…That was the religion of the founders of the republic, and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants.”

Here are a couple of notes that may have you go huummmm: the two most social transforming Supreme Court decisions regarding religion, 1947 ENGEL v VITALE and marriage, 2013 HOLLINGSWORTH v PERRY, neither used precedence for the decisions to completely redefine the long-standing meanings of words in the public.  But instead chose to set precedence out of thin air; and in the 1980 Supreme Court case STONE v. GRAHAM, the court’s decision to outlaw the posting of the Ten Commandments in government schools stated, If the posted copies of the Ten Commandments are to have any effect at all, it will be to induce the schoolchildren to read, meditate upon, perhaps to venerate and obey, the Commandments.”

The Founders clearly knew the dangers to the republic’s posterity if we failed to apply a high Christian and moral test to the young and maybe even more importantly to our chosen leaders for the nation’s continued prosperity. Founder Benjamin Rush said. Contemplating merely the political institutions of the United States, I lament that we waste so much time and money in punishing crimes and take so little pains to prevent them. We profess to be republicans, and yet we neglect the only means of establishing and perpetuating our republican forms of government; that is, the universal education of our youth in the principles of Christianity by means of the Bible; for this divine book, above all others, favors that equality among mankind, that respect for just laws, and all those sober and frugal virtues which constitute the soul of republicanism.”;Founder John Jay, author of the Federalist Papers and first Justice of the Supreme Court, stated that, Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”;and again George Washington warned in his famous 1789 Inaugural address, The propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregard the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”

There are 3 pillars of influences that were to make up our prosperous and free society – the family, the church, and the government. As we may bicker over the order of the first two, the role of government was meant to be the very least of them.  We  can attempt consciously to dismiss the prophetic words of the Founders as just ramblings of old gray-haired White guys of years far gone by.  But history has taught us lessons of the consequences of a grossly politically inattentive and ignorant populous, a morally vacant societal culture, and an ever imposing government. As too it has shown evidence of how prosperous a nation can be over 200 years when guided by Divine Providence. But at last, it is up for us to choose which future it is that we wish to have.
