The other week conservative news juggernaut Fox News took a direct hit by having to sever ties with it’s long standing ratings champion Bill O’Reilly due to simple allegations of sexual misconduct; and the hits haven’t stopped since for Fox News.  This week the US Congress put ink to a Continuing Resolution Bill to keep the federal government funded till September, leaving the field of battle littered with the shells of supposed conservative immovable planks: funding for the much touted wall for the southern border, the elimination of funding for much hated Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, and the Environmental Protection Agency [EPA].  I was always told that successful negotiations are when both sides get something to hang their hats on at the end of the day. But for those of us on the conservative side will have to look for another rack for our hat in looking at the results of this so-called compromise.  There was a rumor that Republicans and Conservatives won massively in the national elections last November by controlling the Congress and the White House.  It is just a rumor by the apparent evidence, thus far.

But conservatism, even the very ideal and principles of conservatism, has been losing ground for quite some time now in America, particularly during the reign of Barack Obama’s 8 years.  Obama cultivated the notion that you can be lazy, irresponsible, and that it is someone else’s fault for your lack of success. And those who do succeed do so solely on the backs of others.  Remember the infamous, “You didn’t build that”.  Let’s start with the abomination called Obamacare.  Though not one Republican voted for it, in arguably the most solidarity shown by the Republican Party in…forever, they have since not shown any true political will to dismantle it, cancel it, nor resend it. Then there was the federal government’s raising same-sex unions, and thus literally any other form of relationship, to legal parity to that of a marriage between a man and a woman.  But the once sturdy and strong granite rock of American Conservatism has been methodically and incrementally chipped away since the Bible was abolished from government schools and thus the public square, with the 1947 Supreme Court case Everson v. Board of Education, in the activist court’s strenuous contortion of the federal Constitution as it relates to the state, to the point that today the rock is a mere fragile pebble.  In essence it made the 1854 Petition to Congress to separate Christian principles from government, in which the question of the separation of church and state was brought before the branch of the government that actually writes the laws for the nation, virtually irrelevant; in which it stated “Had the people (the Founding Fathers), during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle.”

I saw a quote from a politician that said, paraphrasing, that if the government’s power constantly changes hands between the Parties, and yet the fundamental course of the government continues opposite the will of the people, that is a sign of a conspiracy at work. Many of us are too focused on which party is in so-called power in the District. Instead, we should truly be questioning what does it matter which Party it is in power, when our nation’s fundamental and traditional conservative values and principles continue to become less and less a guiding factor, both in our government and therefore the nation’s society as a whole no matter how much the majority agrees that nation’s moral compass is going south?

I cannot recall any president vociferously championing Christian Conservatism since Ronald Reagan.  Can you?  There is supposed to be a Republican in the White House.  But what fundamental American Christian conservative principles or values has he espoused, vowed to defend, or champion? What that of the Republican leadership of the Congress?  Crickets!!  But in contrast, the Progressive Political Left’s agenda is demonstratively defended and thrusted upon the nation through legislation, academia, and the Media-particularly entertainment-without shame.

The public lynching of Mr. O’Reilly is just the biggest trophy for those who seek to suppress and abolish the very ideal of conservatism and traditional American moral values.  But he won’t be the last so long as the silent majority stands by as mummed spectators.  Progressive Leftism does not inspire anyone. It lacks imagination.  And therefore it cannot defeat republicanism, the belief that individualism trumps collectivism, in the light of day.  It can only operate in the shadows, clandestinely, and in the mist of deception and the manipulation of truth and facts, with only illusion of mass appeal.  Obama would have not gotten elected if he ran on doubling the nation’s debt due to his big government-oriented Keynesian Economic policies, the government takeover of the American medical and financial system, and redefining marriage to include more than that of between a man and a woman. Democrats have to run sounding more like Republicans to get elected. And Progressive Leftism has to be imposed by activist judges, rather than the elected legislature, and institutionalize their doctrine via the government controlled educational system with innocuous sounding titles such as, Common Core.  At the same time they have to squash open opposing views and speech with unrestrained Political Correctness. American Conservatism overall works.  Can you name one politically Leftist country that has been economically prosperous for nearly 200 years?  Progressive Leftist ideology has proven good for three things, handcuffing individualism and enslaving and impoverishing people – mentally and physically.

There is a conspiracy at play in this nation, and the world as well. It is not one of Republican or Democrat Party ideology.  It is one of the fundamental ideal of right or wrong, freedom or servitude, and morality or immorality.  George Washington may have said it best when he said of this nation’s intetheredness of success and morality, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political perosperity, religion and morality are indespensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest prop of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for propety, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge in the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle… Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be that good policy does not equally enjoin it?”

At the end of the day it is up to us to choose our destiny.
